Membership of the Geneva Writers’ Group is open to anyone interested in developing their creative writing skills  in English – whether beginner or experienced writer, not-yet-published or published author.

Our workshops cover a wide range of skills, in both prose and poetry. Amongst the many subjects covered are: writing the essay, novel-writing, memoir, the short story, creative nonfiction, different poetic forms, and more.

In addition, we run workshops by guest instructors, invite literary agents to meet with members and asses their work, publish Offshoots, a biennial review of members’ works, hold literary salons in Geneva from time to time and organize the biennial and hugely-successful Geneva Writers’ Conference.

See our workshop calendar for details of the full range of topics that will be covered this coming year.

We value the opportunity to offer members direct experience of what we do before joining the GWG.  To be eligible for membership, an individual must participate in one morning and one afternoon workshop session during the course of our September to June workshop season.

Application for membership is made by submitting a membership form to the Committee.

The Statutes of the Geneva Writers’ Group are available from here.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q : Do I have to be recognized as a writer to become a member ? Are your members published writers?

A : We all hope never to stop growing as writers ! We have quite a few writers who have published books, articles, had plays produced, won contests, etc. We’re culturally diverse, and we have various receptions, opportunities to meet and talk. It’s a fun group.

Q : Is it worth maintaining a membership if I can’t come to many workshops ?

A : Absolutely ! There are opportunities that don’t require being present at workshops in which you can only participate if you have paid up membership. Submitting to the Offshoots anthology and the Literary Prize competition, access to the mentor list… These are only a few examples.
